Darren Jones is a highly intelligent and articulate individual, possessing a calm and composed demeanour. He exudes a cerebral, moderate approach, with a silver tongue that is as smooth as any politician would aspire to be.

But, why did he utter one of the most insulting lies during the BBC’s recent ‘Question Time’? Why is Labour still perpetuating falsehoods in its narrative concerning the migrant crisis? It is not as if Reform and/or Robert Jenrick have not already exposed the true extent of the problem.

The answer then, is that the truth would reveal that Labour has failed; and will continue to fail.

From July 2024 to June 2025, we have seen a consistent annual rise of 14% in the number of boats. These are the boats of which we are aware, arriving at our shores. This represents a 21% increase in the number of individuals, a jump of 6,500 people since Labour came to power. The reality is that there are just under 5,200 additional men in our country compared to the previous year. Adult women only constitute 9-12% of these figures. In total, 70% originate from Vietnam, Afghanistan, Iran, Syria, and Eritrea.

Abolishing the Rwanda scheme without a replacement plan was an arrogant and reckless decision. This clearly signalled to all smugglers that the door remained firmly open and that Britain would not introduce any kind of deterrence. It was business as usual in other words.

All other plans Labour has devised to combat smuggling gangs and strengthen our borders are long-term actions. They will require time if they’re to have any impact. Consequently, there is no immediate prospect of reversing this trend.

Of course, with Lord Helmer as Attorney General, Labour is bound by the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR). Starmer’s blind commitment to international treaties and international law reduce Britain’s ability to take decisive action. This leads to a higher chance of backlogs of asylum seekers being approved for settlement, merely to decrease the total number of individuals staying in hotels and hostels.

People smuggling networks appear capable of rapidly transforming themselves and their methods. Labour is struggling to keep pace. The absurd comment by Darren Jones has severely eroded any existing confidence. It raises doubts about the government possessing a comprehensive understanding of the situation and tells us they have no answers.

Labour’s numerous deceptions have rendered falsehoods a pervasive policy. The government is not in control of events, instead party zealots control it. They have lost touch with reality operating from their smart pads in Islington or where-ever else it is that the Labourati live these days. Their continued policy failures will increasingly expose them and the Labour Party will lose every ounce of credibility. Bring it on!

Regrettably, Labour prefers not to address this specific issue because doing so would contradict its ‘internationalist’ principles. They must quickly begin to recognise though that voters are weary of being treated as fools. If they fail to do so, there will be significant electoral consequences, and that day of reckoning can’t come soon enough.
