In the global arena, there exists a nation that has consistently comprehended the profound significance of the term ‘threat’. Since the establishment of the Jewish State, Israel has engaged in eight major wars, yet has never achieved a state of perpetual peace. Terrorist organisations, sharing the same distorted ideology of Tehran, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Islamic Jihad, have perpetually attacked and provoked Israel, undermining the fragile ‘peace’ in the region. Furthermore, they persistently strive to destabilise the sole democratic nation in the Middle East, with an explicit objective of eradicating it from the face of the Earth.
Behind these satellites, Iran has been vocal in its explicit call for the annihilation of Israel. It has provided arms and training to terrorist organisations, and more alarmingly, has been rapidly developing a nuclear strike capability, with a probable ultimate objective.
Israel has been under relentless assault and is rightfully entitled to safeguard its citizens and, consequently, the Western world, by launching a pre-emptive attack on Iran in response to the existential threat it faces.
The part destruction of Iran’s nuclear capability was not only necessary but also overdue. Iran has consistently disregarded supposed negotiations, and while it may not have completely eliminated its capability, this attack has undoubtedly delayed or significantly diminished Tehran’s ambitions.
As part of its defensive strike, ‘Operation Rising Lion’, Israel has disrupted the command structure of Iran’s military, resulting in the removal of significant and influential Iranian leaders and scientist that has dealt a severe blow to Iran’s fighting capabilities.
Last night, with remarkable precision, the Israeli military carried out a targeted operation that resulted in the elimination of several high-ranking Iranian military figures. These included Major General Hossein Salami, the Commander-in-Chief of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), a known terrorist organisation not officially designated as such by the United Kingdom; Major General Mohammad Bagheri, the Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces; Major General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the Commander of the IRGC’s Aerospace Force and missile programme; Major General Gholam Ali Rashid, the Deputy Chief of Staff; and Ali Shamkhani, a senior confidant of Supreme Leader Khamenei. Additionally, at least six nuclear scientists were also taken out.
While European capitals have expressed their concerns about Israel’s actions in Gaza and may face challenges in openly supporting Israel in this strategic endeavour, it is crucial to acknowledge that this small nation has taken decisive action to address Iran’s nuclear ambitions.
Israel has successfully eliminated significant elements of Hamas and degraded Hezbollah’s capabilities. However, Iran’s military remains largely intact. In response, it is imperative that we stand united with Israel and provide any necessary support to counter any potential Iranian actions.
This attack has undoubtedly had a profound impact on the Iranian government and military, underscoring Iran’s vulnerabilities and its inability to defend itself. It may further exacerbate the existing divisions within Iran’s establishment. Should Iran respond with force, the consequences could be even more severe. Conversely, a lack of response could embolden groups that seek to exploit this perceived weakness and further undermine the Iranian State.
Regardless of the outcome, this attack was justified.
